Monica Poole Workshop....

On Saturday 7th May 2011, we were lucky to have Monica Poole come to "All About Sewing" on our Guild Day to provide us with a workshop on 5 different ways to "Quilt-as-you-go".
It was a wonderful day.
Monica had us working thru' a "quilt-as-you-go" sampler which taught us 5 different methods of constucting a quilt...quilting as you go....and all the things you need to consider with each method, like thread choices, backing colours etc. Most methods favoured being done by machine, but some did involve hand sewing...although Monica did suggest ways to even avoid hand sewing on those "hand sewn " ones as well.

Throughout the day Monica shared a wide variety of tips and tricks to help keep our work neat, and straight, and also demonstrated a great way to join wadding which eliminates waves and lumps.

Close up of quilting technique demonstrated by Monica using the walking foot. Very effective, easy and fun to do.
Joining wadding.

The results.

The girls had a great day. I think we all agreed that Monica's "Quilt-as-you-go" sampler was a great way to try out all 5 methods of quilt as you go....decide which one we liked the best and then use that on our next quilt.

What a great day. Thanks Monica!
